Our perception of reality comes from what we all learn, either through our own personal experiences or from what we are told by our friends, family members and associates based on information gleaned from newspapers, magazines, radio, television – and from the world wide web.

The internet has become the largest platform for the collection and decimation of mass information and communications around the globe, and Google is gaining a tight grip on our access to this online information, and to our overall understanding of everything.

With a market share of over 91% of the global search engine market and over 88% of the American market, Google can gag free speech around the world, at their whim. With just a slight tweak to their search engine algorithm, Google can easily and seamlessly display results due to the personal preferences and ideologies of its founders, shareholders, CEO or advertisers rather than the actual relevance of a search inquiry.  Would Google manipulate search engine results to control what Americans believe?

Eric Schmidt, the former CEO of Google’s parent company Alphabet, expressed the company’s plan to control what people think.  Two day’s after the 2016 presidential election, Schmidt stated, “How people get their information, what they believe, what they don’t, is, I think, the project for the next decade.”

In 2015 Schmidt launched “The Groundwork,” a startup tech company specifically engineered to get Hillary Clinton elected.

While Schmidt was running Google he was also operating as a top advisor to the Clinton presidential campaign, and according to campaign strategist John Podesta, in an April 2014 email to Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook, The Google CEO was desperate to work on Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign.  Podesta stated, “I met with Eric Schmidt tonight. He’s ready to fund, advise, recruit talent, etc…Clearly wants to be head outside advisor.”

Google’s Chief Executive Officer was responsible for setting up the back-end of the official Hillary Clinton for President campaign website, to enable it to tap into all of Googles robust targeting and communications features including email and social media connections of the millions of Americans who use Google, Gmail, Youtube or any other Google company associated products, and reportedly, to manipulate search engine results related to the 2016 presidential elections in favor of liberal news, left leaning viewpoints – and Hillary Clinton.

Google CEO Eric Schmidt was photographed wearing a badge identifying himself as a member of Hillary Clinton’s “staff” during her Election Night party.

Google was founded in 1998 by Stanford University students Larry Page and Sergey Mikhaylovich Brin.  Sergey Brin was born in Moscow in 1977 and immigrated to the United States when he was a child. Despite being a Russian born citizen, Sergey has seemingly been granted the authority to control the information American’s have access to on the internet, without much oversight from Congress.

In an effort to combat what it considers “Fake News” Google has altered their operating system algorithms to flag, and restrict, websites that the company determines to be publishing fake news, but evidence suggests that Google’s new fact-checking feature almost exclusively targets conservative websites like Infowars.

Google has partnered with The Poynter Institute for Media Studies to help irradiate what they consider to be fake news from their network. Their largest donors include George Soros and left wing anti-Trump billionaire Pierre Omidyar, who contributed $100 million.

Public Policy reporter Eric Lieberman from The DailyCaller recently wrote, “Google, the most powerful search engine in the world, is now displaying fact checks for conservative publications in its results.  No prominent liberal site receives the same treatment.” The DC also reported, “these fact checks almost exclusively appeared on conservative websites like The Daily Caller, Breitbart, and the Federalist, but not for liberal sites like Vox or ThinkProgress.”

Dr. Robert Epstein, a professor at the American Institute for Behavioral Research believes that Google’s search results were so biased in favor of Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton that it could have swayed two millions votes towards her.  He said, “It is somewhat difficult to get the Google search bar to suggest negative searches related to Mrs. Clinton or to make any Clinton-related suggestions when one types a negative search term.”

SourceFed news channel discovered how Google’s autocomplete features differed from other major search engines and how it was altering searches to paint Clinton in a more favorable light.  In a Youtube video that Google has since removed from their site, SourceFed demonstrated that when the phrase “Hillary Clinton Cri” was typed into Google it would autocomplete to “Hillary Clinton Crime Reform,” “Hillary Clinton Crisis,” and “Hillary Clinton Crime Bill 1994,” even though a look at Google’s own trends show that “Hillary Clinton crimes” is a far more popular search.  When the same phrase was typed into Bing and Yahoo search engines the autocomplete showed “Hillary Clinton criminal charges,” “Hillary Clinton crimes,” Hillary Clinton criminal.”

Google has been charged with manipulating its search engine algorithms to rank it own products above competitors, even if better products and services are offered elsewhere.  It now appears that Google is using those same monopolistic tactics to get politicians elected.

In light of Google’s importance to the American digital infrastructure, and their ability to influence national elections, the company should be regulated as a public utility, and monitored by Congress.
