I lived and worked not far from his New Jersey office and Saddle River home. My kids went to the pediatrician next door. I can’t tell you how many people expressed their admiration for him and his family. Some kids in the area told me that his house was the best for Halloween!
He really was a great man who got caught in a terrible situation not of his own making.
Don't know the answer (perhaps Roger does), but I'll never forget my disappointment on hearing the news. I was a college student working at a Kayo gas station over the summer, and I heard the news on the radio in the attendant's booth on a warm August evening. I knew it was a dagger to the country's heart, and never respected Nixon again, though I do believe his resignation was the result of a CIA coup.
This article is an incredible work of love, respect, and admiration for a man who truly earned that. Mr. Stone’s peak behind the curtain is brilliant. I can’t express enough how much this article touched me. The reverence for its subject is palpable.
Nixon was a truly great statesman and I’ve not seen another come along in my lifetime to outshine him. His legacy will remain one of the greatest in history. No allegations of corruption or criminal acts can erase all the good he brought to this world. Rest well, President Nixon, and thank you Mr. Stone for sharing such a vast collection of personal and historical information with us.
Thank you for your unique insight into the President's personality, his actions, and his life following his resignation. There was a lot there I didn't know; I enjoyed reading it all. Even the HST bit, I was wondering if you would include it! At least Thompson said "he didn't like me either" in his piece. The judgement of History takes a very long time, and in the end, I think it will remember President Nixon more fondly, and with more respect. (I wrote to the President when I was 12, and got a reply, which of course I still have. I represented him in my sixth grade class pre-election, and the local press did an article about it, which was when I learned never to trust The Media!)

Stone cold Stone Man is the coolest name
Great history, thank you.
Agree - Nixon a great POTUS falsely maligned.
I still think that he was thrown out due to an insider's conspiracy among Deep State charlatains.
Yes I have read that he knew too much about the JFK assassination. They did not want to kill him but wanted him gone.

May God rest his soul!

He wasn't crook, CIA was
Do we know why President Nixon chose Gerald Ford after Agnew resigned?
Right? I recall my Dad saying "Oh no, not Ford! I wish he'd chosen Mel Laird!"
Thank you! I read every word, found it fascinating the years you’ve been witness to politicians.
Just saw the Reagan movie, no mention of Nixon’s counsel. Guess it’s difficult to include everything.
Nixon was one f the best Presidents we have ever had. I knew he had been set up.
