Wish we could go back to the days of men in suits and women in dresses/skirts. My mom and dad dressed like that (depression era folks) and my mom always had me dressed to the nines for school and outings. I won best dressed in school. It’s pride for how you look and I like it. Oh, hats too. I loved it when men wore hats.

As I find myself watching old 70s reruns on streaming TV, fashion that has stood the test of time is the well dressed male. I used to wear a tie everyday while attending high school in the 70s, I was mocked for awhile, but it was eventually excepted. I wore a tie because I wanted the teachers and students to know I was serious about learning. I carried that traditional in my 45 years in corporate business.

I also was in school during the same time. The guy that was labeled in our senior year book as the best dressed guy wore a tie a lot.

First job I got at 16 years old was for a janitor. My Dad told me to wear a suit and tie to the interview so they would know I was going to be a professional janitor.

Now I really know what they mean by, the good old days !!!

After returning from a vacation tour with our daughter in Europe (Italy, Switzerland, France, and Great Britain), my wife told me how much better dressed most people are over there. Our people are almost slovenly compared to the man or woman one sees walking in Europe’s cities.

Democrats screaming, crying, and whining the most about DOGE need to be investigated first because when all the crooks are mad, you know something is going right.

This is really awesome! MABA baby!!! In the 1800s and early 1900s America was beautiful! Architecture, clothing, etc. The when 1913 and Fed came in everything began to wane. Also in early 1900s many beautiful buildings with European style classic architecture burned down (kinda like Lahaina and LA of today) and the beauty lost and forgotten, so sad, but now with MAGA we can begin again, the economy will soar, education will be back to reading, writing, and arithmetic, and young minds will soar, sadly Im 71 and may not see this so much, but DJT might not either, but hey, it is a start, and what would great beauty be for our children and grandchildren? So awesome!! GOD IS GOOD, it is all happening now by the grace of Almighty GOD! Hallelujah!

I miss men in suits and hats and women in stylish clothing and hats. When you look polished you're viewed differently. I wore dresses even after we were allowed to don pants in high school and through the bulk of my professional life. I miss those days!

Women need to start dressing up too. I am sick of seeing professional women in pants. Pants are fine. They keep your legs warm I winter and they avoid the problem of a pencil skirt riding up to mid thigh, but women need to get back to dresses and skirts. Pantyhose needs to made more like tights. No tight grabbing top on the thighs or the waist. Just make them comfortable. They are not girdles for legs. Need to lose weight? Do it. Dresses are more comfortable and can be dressed up with a jacket, a sweater, a bolero, a ruana, a big scarf. Women need to start wearing nice shoes again. Heels don’t have to be sky high or the toes pointed. My favorite pumps are satin with a 1.5 inch heel and a rounded toe. They are ten years old and adorable still. Hats on women! I discovered a fabulous hat shop years ago and now have three hat boxes full of great hats.

I think leggings, big T’s, sweatshirts, and sweat pants became a thing when wheat changed from healthy low gluten to GMO wheat in the late 1980’s. The body can’t process it, so it stores it as fat. Then sizes changed to make fatties feel better. A 12 in 1972 is now an 8 today. I found some wonderful Pendleton women’s clothes (and their wooden Pendleton hangers!) at a thrift shop about 14 years ago. They are all size 12’s but fit like my size 8’s.

I hope RFK, Jr. can get healthy food back and get fat Americans slim again. I lost 50 pounds this past year so I am in support of getting down to healthy weights again. It begins with food. When people look good in their bodies, they want to wear nice clothes to express their pleasure in looking good. Let’s definitively ring back dressing up, but let’s also help people get healthy bodies back again!

I couldn’t agree more. Thank you! How has the Lowest Common Denominator gained such ascendancy in all fields? Beauty in music, visual arts, architecture, men and women’s fashion, and even in language has devolved and continues on the path to crude and ugly. Beauty is a sensibility derived from God involving mathematical proportion, rhythm, balance, harmony, and color coordination. When God is ignored beauty devolves to just personal preferences, often only for shock value, without any standards.
